Come Dive With Me

So Australia is out of the World Cup. What a fizzer of a game after last week's dramatics. But I'm proud of the lads and I'm sure we'll be cheering them on again four years from now. It's definitely been the most entertaining bandwagon I've jumped on for awhile!

  1. i am utterly devastated. cannot believe how the game ended… but you are right the boys have done so well… can’t wait for world cup 2010 in south africa!

  2. the Italian theme song…

D is for Divas, and wasn’t there a few
I is for Italy, the mother of such proud boys
V is for viva, life and all that
E is fore extra time, we really needed that

    and what does that spell….

  3. You have no idea how happy you’ve made me with the description, ‘fizzer of a game’. I missed it because free-to-air TV in Malaysia isn’t showing the early games. The online textual commentary made it sound so exciting. Here’s hoping that what I made up in my head was more thrilling than the game itself.

  4. I have struggled all day to keep my inner football hooligan under control but I can hold it in no longer.

GODDDAMMMM THOSE NANCY BOY ITALIAN AMATEUR STUNTMEN WITH THEIR PATHETIC AND ENTIRELY CORRUPT WAY OF PLAYING FOOTBALL AND DAMN FIFA FOR NOT ALLOWING A VIDEO REFEREE GODDAMMMIT but GO YOU SOCCEROOS, GO YOU GOOD THINGS, YOU DONE US PROUD.

Thank you, I feel much better. Bring on 2010.

  5. This is the same Socceroos who, kinda, you know, weren’t, sort of, not really, maybe, if we’re careful about it, or we could play it back… GET IT IN THE BOX YOU MUPPETS!!!!

Yes, the Italians are diving champions but Australia seemed a little tentative at times. Why didn’t they get the big tall one on early on and start lumping it into the box? why oh why oh why..

Shame though, that belly flop at the end was embarassing. Here’s hoping Italia get dumped out in the next round… 5-0!

  6. Oh Shauny you wouldn’t want to have be in melbourne last night, 25,000 roaming the streets. You get the feeling even the Italians weren’t happy with the way they won. The best thing is Australia played a truly honest and the better game, the Italians their old “clampdown” version which is a cynical effort at the best of times. And am I the only one wondering about the coincidence of that penalty being awarded at that moment? Everyone agrees if it had gone into time-on Australia would have won.

  7. Thanks Trish, you have made me feel better! I am soooo bitter and its making me uglier by the second. Yesterday I yelled that all Italy won was an Oscar and then stormed out the pub. My hubby had to follow but he looked frightened! If I cant behave I’m going to have to get off the bandwagon

  8. Ah well the wheels far off another bandwagon….there’ll be another along shortly.

Can I just say I hope the poms get pumped in the next game.

  9. Not the worst refereeing decision of the Cup for Australia, but definitely the most decisive.

We’ll be back in 4 years in Sth Africa, but we Aussie supporters at home are still going to be sufferring from severe lack of sleep due to the time difference. if there are a few tyopes in this, then youknow it’s due to the brain not functioning after so many late nights and early mornings.

    Go the Socceroos!!!!
