Super Sell Out 3 – Up & Running training diary

Up & Running training diary for runnersThis third Super Sell Out offering is my pet prize because it was created with my own blood, sweat and swears*. It’s the beautiful Up & Running training diary!

The good Coach Julia and I share a love of training diaries. We do like apps and gadgets but it’s never quite as satisfying as recording your toil and triumphs on paper. But we’re very fussy and could never find the perfect diary that had all the nerdy features we wanted.

So about a year ago we decided to create our own diary for runners and after months and months of obsessive writing and tweaking we finally finished it in December.

It’s a 12-month perpetual diary so it can be started any time of year. It’s designed by the uber-talented team at Papermoustache and contains 52 weeks of bold, beautiful pages to track the nitty-gritty of your workouts from mileage, shoes, weather, races and moods. And because it’s not all about stats, there’s inspiring quotes and running wisdom from Coach J…. plus space for free form writing, doodling or sticker sticking!

Making this thing was such a highlight of 2012. After nearly two years of Up & Running being an online creation, it was such a rush to create something you could actually hold in your hands. Gave me a delicious shiver down the spine. Making stuff ROCKS!

Are you a diary nerd too? I’m giving away a full-colour Up & Running training diary. Simply leave a comment on this post to enter. If you’re reading via an RSS feed, Facebook or Goodreads, you need to click through to the blog. Entries close Tuesday 31 January 2013 at 9PM GMT. Winner will be drawn at random. Click here to view the terms and conditions of the Sell Out. * Actual diary is made of paper, cardboard and a metal spiral; contains no actual blood or sweat.

  1. Ooooh!! I’d LOVE one of these – have just starting running (by which I mean trotting plumply around the block three times a week) and would love a diary to track it in!

  2. Oh, I’d love to have one. I love paper diaries and I love running, so it would be great to put those two together 🙂

  3. The diary looks like a great tool. I’d love to use it, great idea making it flexible to start any month!

  4. It’s so beautiful. I had no idea! If I don’t win I’m definitely buying one for my sister who just started running.

  5. Yay for Up & Running. This year I’m going to get working towards a 10k I think – scary!
I would totally love this! It’s on my wish list, but I have told myself I must use all the other notebooks I have bought before buying any new ones. But this is on my list for as soon as I finish the other 5 I have 🙂

  6. I too love putting pen to paper; electronic just doesn’t do it for me. And despite a bookcase that would indicate the contrary, I firmly believe one can’t have too many diaries and journals.

  7. Every time I read about Up and Running I want to try running, despite the fact that I’ve never been able to run the length of myself. I’ve tried, but I’m so mortified at the thought of anyone seeing me, I only run if there is no one around. It confuses the hell out of the dog LOL x

  8. Oh great idea! Its so easy to tuck electronic files away and forget about them, but a diary on the corner of the kitchen bench has proper Presence.

  9. Would love to win this one as I am a diary nerd…though I never win anything. Maybe the random drawing gods will be in my favor for once!

  10. Ooooooh – I would love on of these. I love tracking things and you’re right, the perfect diary seems almost impossible to find… but looking at this it’s just what I need! I currently have scraps of paper all over my coffee table with workouts I’ve done, or planned to do… I just need something to pull it all together 🙂

  11. I would love to win this. I forgot to put it on top of my christmas wish list but eh presto: a new chance 🙂

  12. Motivation post-baby? Yes please! Thank you for the blog… I’m not sure I’ ve commented before, but I found your book in the library & really enjoyed reading your adventures.

  13. I’m one of those geeks that loves to track her runs! The satisfaction of writing it down always gets me to make myself run on the days I’d rather not. It’s one of the many silly tricks I play on myself to get myself to run. I’ve been a tracker since I read your awesome book in 2009 and went on to lose 100 lbs thanks to you.

  14. Oooh… The running diary would be great to go with the new pen I hope to win!! Although then it would mean I would have to actually move my ‘Lardy bits” to have to record anything with the beautiful fountain pen I also planned on winning. Sigh… Maybe I’m better off not winning
this, it would involve a lot of sweating, and jiggling. Okay, I guess if I won it I would have to take it as a sign that I was destined to run… Be a runner and record all the details. Oh pick me! Pick me!! I promise I’ll run!

  15. All this time I’ve been tracking my training with an electronic application… A paper journal! What an innovation! 😉

  16. I’ve been wondering, am I too old to start running? to giggly? too heavy?

I need a diary, rather than unleash these questions on my fatigued family and friends.
